Fine tune your braiding eyes..

Hello Beauties!
Its that time again..that time to put your braiding eyes on and talk about something I see out there, that people aren't mentioning.
Can you see what's going on in the picture to the far left?

This is something that isn't spoken about much at all. Its something in the beginning of my braiding career I did at one point. I didn't like it so I fixed it.
Now to the untrained eye, everything looks great about the clients braids. Its neat, the sizing of each braid aint too bad, the sections are sharp. But like I have mentioned, with your braiding eyes on, you should be able to see there is a hump to the beginning of the braid.

You must be asking "yes and whats your point?". Well what would happen over time..especially while you sleep at night. That hump will become more and more pronounced. It will never flatten out, because it was braided in a certain pattern, its set in, locked and loaded. You would have to undo the braid and do it again to fix the defect. It will always have that hump look and will show up in pictures and to me, won't be pleasing to the eye and would look funny.
My example to the right is how your braids should lay down straight against the scalp. No humps, curves or deviations.

How do you fix it?
You fix it by changing the technique in which you use to install the braid. You have to completely change the way you install. While learning how to braid, I changed my technique over 6 times. Until I got the look I always wanted.

So its up to you as a braider to either continue on with things or change it up.
Braiding is an art and it takes a good eye to see where you can improve and how you can make that happen. If you want to be the best you can be, then this blog will teach you to see braids from a different point of view. Once you sharpen your braiding eyes, you will see braids in a whole new light. It will push you to get better and help you focusing on giving your clients your best
